For starters, we enjoy a business casual dress code, which means no stuffy suits. If you will be meeting with a client or going to a worksite, sure, you’ll want to dress appropriately. But for everyday office attire, khakis and polo shirts reign.
Our offices are newly expanded and renovated. All of our offices are in close proximity to cultural, social, and recreational attractions, with easy access and no parking fees.
We like to have a good time
B&L employees will tell you that this is a fun place to work. Yes, we all have work to do. But somehow we manage to get the job done and enjoy ourselves while we do it. To keep things fun, we have a committee devoted solely to planning events for our employees, both during the work day and outside of work. We’ve got something going on just about every month. And sometimes there are several events in the course of a month. Food is a motivator for many, so we host annual soup and chili cookoffs, summer employee appreciation cookouts (where the owners cook for the employees!), a Cinco de Mayo lunch, dessert festival, and a make-your-own-sundae event. Each summer we have an annual picnic, with family members and significant others invited to join in on the food and games. Our New Year’s holiday office putt-putt golf event is also a big hit, with each department designing its own hole, complete with work-related barriers and hazards. Of course, an office party follows the golf!
B&L also hosts several recreational activities outside of work for our employees and their family members, including ice skating, skiing, bowling, golfing, hiking, night at the speedway, maple syrup tours, wine tasting tours, apple and pumpkin picking, and a trip to the zoo. Our annual Christmas party is a blast, complete with food, music, trivia contests, dancing, and prizes. We’re sports nuts at B&L, too. The company sponsors basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, and hockey teams, comprised of B&L employees. And we schedule a number of family outings to professional and collegiate sporting events.
We recognize the importance of training our employees
B&L provides regular, on-site, technical training sessions and covers the cost for off-site training. This is especially helpful to our professionally licensed staff in need of continuing education and/or professional development credits. Non-technical programs are also made available at no cost, such as financial planning, CPR, and first aid.
We share our time and resources with those in need
B&L employees participate in community and charity events such as the Corporate Challenge 3K run, American Heart Walk, Earth Day cleanup, and “Adopt-a-Highway” cleanup efforts. We are active in fundraising, gift, clothing, and supply drives for local schools, shelters, and others in need. We also run a continuous food drive, collecting donations for a different food pantry or charity every month or so. In addition, Barton & Loguidice often matches donations made by our employees to disaster relief efforts.
