Renovation of Existing Police Station & New Maintenance Building
What was the Challenge?
The existing City Hall building that housed City offices, the police station, and the maintenance department was no longer sufficient to serve its purposes. AJC Professionals, now a part of Barton & Loguidice, performed the various design updates for the construction of this new 6,500 Square Foot maintenance building that was built on site to house and repair the cities fleet and serve as additional office spaces.
How did Barton & Loguidice provide a solution?
The entire 7,000+ Square Foot lower floor of City Hall was completely renovated to serve as the police station. Some updates that were made include new HVAC systems, redundant power, locker rooms, offices, holding cells, evidence storage, sally port, and meeting spaces. A partial renovation of the second floor was included to convert the previous police station into tax offices. In addition, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing updates were designed and implemented for the new maintenance building. A vehicle exhaust system was incorporated to allow service and repair of the fleet as well.
Why was the project a success?
The Municipal building renovation separated the police from the local Government offices to better secure the police functions from the general public for safety and security. The new maintenance building provides more space for the department to house and repair their fleet of vehicles. These improvements also allow for more offices to be located in the building.
