Afton School District Design & Modernization
What was the challenge?
A rural school district serving roughly 540 students, the Afton Central School District looked to modernize its classrooms and increase building security. The district also needed to build a bus garage on a recently purchased piece of property that was formerly a car dealership. All of the renovations needed to be completed before the start of the following school year.
How did Barton & Loguidice provide a solution?
B&L designed two modern, secure entry vestibules into the district’s Pre K-12 building. Several classrooms and offices were relocated to accommodate the new entryways. Mechanical and electrical upgrades throughout the building were also incorporated into the project. Other improvements included security cameras, wi-fi, smartboards, fencing, and accessible walkways. The new bus garage was constructed nearby and features a classroom, two mechanical bays, and a wash bay. Outside, the bus parking area features a snow removal system that buses simply drive underneath.
Why was the project a success?
The Afton Central School District now enjoys state-of-the-art technology and security features throughout its properties. This project was completed before the school year began, coming in under budget. Our partnership with this school district has spanned nearly two decades and we are proud to help bolster their educational system.
