Geneva Downtown Streetscape Projects
What was the Challenge?
As part of the City of Geneva’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), the Downtown Streetscape project and the Route 5 and 20 Corridor Reconfiguration applied national Complete Streets standards to three of Geneva’s key corridors.
How did Barton & Loguidice provide a solution?
The Downtown Streetscape project redesigned the Castle and Exchange Street corridors, created public gathering spaces, implemented green infrastructure, incorporated public art, developed a streetscape palette of materials and furnishings, and enhanced user safety and connectivity to downtown.
Why was the project a success?
The Route 5 and 20 Corridor Reconfiguration transformed the arterial into a two-lane boulevard with a cycle track and sidewalks. It also improved the connection between downtown Geneva and the lakefront and incorporated native plantings.
