Rosendale Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements
What was the challenge?
The Town of Rosendale owns and operates a 0.10 MGD wastewater treatment plant. In an effort to improve plant performance and increase capacity, B&L designed various improvements to the WWTP, including miscellaneous upgrades to the facility’s headworks, an expansion of the existing aeration basins, and the construction of new secondary clarifier basins and a new UV effluent disinfection system. There were many sequencing and coordination challenges associated with the construction of the WWTP improvements while maintaining effluent quality within SPDES effluent limits.
How did Barton & Loguidice find a solution?
B&L developed a sequence of construction that would ensure adequate wastewater treatment throughout construction and then coordinated with all involved parties, including the Town, 3rd party WWTP operators, NYSDEC, and three (3) prime contractors to successfully implement the sequence.
Why was the project a success?
The WWTP improvements were completed, and all new equipment is functioning as intended. The WWTP is producing effluent within SPDES discharge permit limits.
