Watervliet Bike Path Connection
What was the Challenge?
Barton & Loguidice worked with the City of Watervliet on the design and build of this 2.56 mile of on and off-road multi-use path to extend the Mohawk-Hudson Bike Hike Trail through the City of Watervliet. This project is a way to provide a safer, more efficient multi-modal connection within the City of Watervliet, all while making the path ADA compliant.
How did Barton & Loguidice provide a solution?
This project needed to be completed without interruption to on-street parking, right-of-way, all while completing the required project needs. The Watervliet Bike Path was completed in the spring of 2022 and included trail facilities design, vehicular flow path and traffic signal reconfiguration, and ADA compliant accommodations implementation.
Why was the project a success?
After construction completion the trail was adopted as part of the Empire State Trail system which includes over 750 miles of trails throughout the State of New York. B&L completed the 1.85 Mile bike path connection with a bicycle trail separate from the roadway. This project received funding from the NYSDOT Transportation Improvement Program.
